| A recent graduate of Norman Jewisons Canadian Film Centre, Bruce Spangler is one of Canadas newest talents. Protection is his feature film debut. He has produced and directed six short films: Wonderful (2001), Rush (1999), Warm Gun (1994), New World Murder (1992) Head Lights Fade (1991), and Tele-Geist (1990). New World Murder, an experimental documentary de-construction of the Gulf War, has played at numerous international festivals, winning two awards for best experimental short. In addition to filmmaking, Bruce has written music for film and television and has also exhibited his photography in a number of galleries in both Vancouver and Seattle. Prior to his career as a filmmaker, Bruce was a child protection social worker. He worked for the Ministry of Children and Families as social worker in the city of Surrey, British Columbia for over five years. Protection is based on his real life experiences as a front line child abuse investigator. |
